Down to the BoneNeil is one of original members of 'Down to the Bone'. Other band members include Paul 'Shiltz' Weimar on tenor Sax, Adrian Ravell on alto Sax, Tony Remy on guitars, Paul Turner on bass, Frank Tonto on drums and Satin Singh on percussion. Stuart Wade and Chris Morgans are the guys who formed D.T.T.B. and are the main writers of the first two albums - 'From Manhattan to Staten' and 'Urban Grooves Volume2'. The first album broke several records in sales being number 1 for 38 weeks in the Jazz FM radio charts and selling around 250,000 copies to date with the second album close on it's heels! With it's current lineup the group first hit America in 1998 with a sell out tour. It was also the first time the group saw a dance style from Baltimore specifically choreographed in clubs in that area to the D.T.T.B. groove. "We were so taken back one night in Boston (coachloads of fans had made the effort to come from Baltimore) where fans started doing this funky dancing in lines to our music. We must have played the 1st song for about 20mins with our eyes popping out! D.T.T.B. returned the following year to even bigger audiences - the group played an open air gig in front of the Trade Towers to around 7,000 fans. Promoting the second album took the band further south than they had been before, specifically to Atlanta where a day of strange and bizarre events occurred. The group found themselves in Atlanta the day of a massacre where a man took a gun and killed around 20 innocent people including his family. That evenings show saw Neil jumping across the stage during one of his keyboard features and breaking his ankle. With over half the show to go it was a painful experience - it wasn't until he was in the dressing room after the show and took his boot of that the true extent of damage was obvious. One consolation was to be pushed around in a wheelchair given to him by the staff of Universal Studios for the remainder of the tour! With the release of the third Album "Spread The Word " co written by Wade/Angilley/Shiltz the band are set to tour the U.S.A. in June. |
